UK court says Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 doesn't infringe Apple's design patents

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 may be banned from sale in the U.S. because it possibly infringes Apple's design patents on the iPad, but over in the UK, courts have determined that the device doesn't step on Apple's toes. This may sound like a victory for Samsung, but the judge's comments that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 lacks "the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design" and "they are not as cool" are sure to sting the Korean company's ego. The judge noted that consumers were unlikely to confuse the two devices because the Galaxy Tab is thinner and has "unique details" on the back when compared to the iPad. Apple has been given 21 days to appeal the decision.
